Dr Jean Annan
Registered Psychologist
Dr Jean Annan is a registered psychologist who works with children and young people experiencing challenges to emotional well-being and learning at Positively Psychology. She has worked with schools across Aotearoa New Zealand, at universities in Auckland and in government agencies that seek to enhance young people’s well-being. Positively Psychology’s work is based on up-to-date psychology knowledge, primarily positive psychology, neuroscience and solution-focused, narrative therapies, all of which have shaped practices that demonstrate good outcomes for young people.
PSYCHOLOGY CONSULTATIONs
Positively Psychology uses positive, appreciative and neuroscience-based approaches for optimising children’s and teenager’s emotional well-being and learning. Through these methods, young people come to understand and adjust their thoughts, feelings and actions. They develop tools they can use to support their well-being now and in the future.
Positively Psychology is offering groups of practitioners a series of three half-day workshops on building children’s emotional well-being. Scheduling is negotiated with each client group. The workshops are designed to support the work of practitioners from education and health sectors.
Workshops
Jean has been working with my 8 year old daughter for one term. In a short time she has transformed her back to a happy, content and calm child. Jean has communicated difficult messages in a manner that has been easily understood. She has taught her practical strategies to implement when feeling out of sorts. I am very grateful for Jean’s support and guidance through a very difficult period.

TESTIMONIAls
Jean and our family have worked together collaboratively to find solutions that work for us. I have found Jean to be very easy to work with, she is engaging and empathetic whilst also being practical and knowledgeable. The skills she has taught us have proved useful and we are already seeing the benefits. I would not hesitate to recommend Jean to anyone (in fact I have several times over).

Jean was a confidante, an advisor, and an advocate for our child. A smart talker and a generous listener, after working with Jean our child felt much more confident about bringing her thoughts, feelings, and concerns to us. She works with caregivers and their children to empower kids, and open lines of communication.

"We have been seeing Jean on and off for over a year to support our primary school-age daughter with anxiety. Jean has been invaluable at providing both us, and our daughter with support, developing consistent and practical strategies that we can apply across various situations and circumstances. She has a wonderful natural rapport with children but equally understands the need to balance child and parent engagement. Our daughter loves Jean and has responded well to her calm approach and positivity. "
